PACE INDEX 02: Jack Fletcher @jackfletcherjack
Jack Fletcher is an illustrator and designer from Edinburgh whose work explores themes of running, momentum, and speed.
He grew up hiking across the Highlands and Islands, which sparked a deep-rooted love of the outdoors that still fuels much of his creative energy today.
Like many people, Jack found running during the pandemic. What began as a form of release soon became something more. Over time, he started to merge it with his passion for illustration, using movement as a source of creative fuel.

For Jack, both running and drawing are forms of self-expression, each feeding the other in a continual cycle of exploration.
Being part of the running community has also become a major source of inspiration:
“I have met many great people through it and been lucky enough to work with tons of cracking people in it too.
Much like the art world, the core of running, I feel, is about going on your own journey and seeing what new heights you can explore.
The only limitation is how far you want to push yourself, and that’s pretty awesome.”

Jack’s visual style is shaped by the challenge of capturing speed and energy in still images. He experiments with unusual perspectives, forced angles, and animation-inspired techniques, sometimes even bending the rules of physics to better convey the feeling of momentum.
That sense of play is central to his work: translating something fluid and fast into something striking and still.
