PACE INDEX 03: Andy Foote @Byvndy

Andy Foote is a photographer from Aberdeen, now based in Edinburgh, whose work sits at the intersection of fashion and the outdoors. As a result, running has naturally become central to both his photography and his life.

He grew up walking in the Cairngorms with his dad, and later returned to the outdoors with friends. When those friends traded hiking boots for running shoes, Andy made the shift too - and soon discovered a new passion behind the camera: photographing runners.

“I love the challenge of capturing motion without awkward expressions or poses.”

For Andy, the beauty of running lies in the details: the blood, sweat, and grit that make the sport so addictive. He is drawn less to the finish line and more to the struggle that leads there.

“For me, the beauty of running lives in the details: the blood, sweat, and grit that make the sport addictive. I’m drawn to documenting the struggle rather than the finish line.”

Community is also central to his work.

Since joining his local Aberdeen club, TGRC, founded by his friend Liam in 2022, Andy has built friendships and found a sense of belonging through the sport.

Running - and the people it has introduced him to - continues to shape his perspective, both personally and creatively.
